How to succeed in your .NET Developer job interview

Ready to take the next step in your .NET development career? Imagine your CV has impressed a potential new employer and you’ve been invited to the next stage; it’s time for the dreaded interviews. Interviews can panic even the most laid back developers, but don’t worry, Huxley are here to help. Here are some simple steps that could lead to success in your next  .NET Developer interview.

Find out everything you can about their .NET tools

Every company works with a different set of technologies, such as epi server, azure, .NET core, and full stack. Whether it’s through the job advert or the company’s website, it should be easy to discover which technology your potential employer works with. Do your research about these tools and find out:

  • Is this a common tool within your industry?

  • What other tools are available?

  • Do you know of any tools that complement their chosen tool?

  • How would you work with it and provide examples?

If you can elaborate on the above, it highlights your expertise as well as an interest in the company. Use your experience and take this moment to prove you’re the .NET specialist they want to hire!

Speak the language of your potential new employer

When researching your new employer, you should get a feel for the company’s tone of voice. This is important as it reflects the company culture and offers you an insight as to what it’ll be like to work there. Try to keep this in mind when being interviewed. Matching their language could demonstrate that you’re a great fit for the company’s culture.

Prepare questions

Preparing insightful questions will allow you to be seen as an insightful professional. Even if you only have one question, it offers a great impression. A good example is to turn the interview around; why not ask your interviewer what they like most about the company? We’re sure they’ll be more than happy to answer!
