An Investment Bank in the City of London are seeking a Business Application Support Analyst to join their Back Office team.

The role of the Application Support Analyst is to ensure the bank has reliable back office systems enabling the business to carry out the daily activities.

As a member of the Business Application team, the Back office application support role will cover the monitoring, support and troubleshooting of incidents reported by the business for the following applications.

You will become an SME for the application(s) you support.

Key Job Functions:

  • You will require previous exposure to an IT support and or change role within the financial services environment.
  • You will focus on timely and accurate resolutions to the incidents raised will be expected, whilst adhering to the current framework for incident capture, ticket management and reporting.
  • Assistance and management (e.g documentation) of the testing and release of changes to Production will also be a requirement, previous exposure of projects / application enhancements would be an advantage.
  • This will be a business facing role which will require good communication skills and a confident approach to incident and user management. An understanding of not only the applications to be supported, but also the upstream system processes which feed the applications would also be beneficial.
  • A self-motivated proactive approach to troubleshooting and incident prevention will be expected of prospective candidates, alongside the involvement and testing of system amendments and changes that will be presented from time.

Responsibility and Authority:

  • Support of incidents raised via the Incident management tool Service Now will be the main focus of the role on a day to day basis.
  • Regular meetings will be held with the various Business teams ensuring incidents are managed efficiently with open communication channels a key aspect of the role.
  • High level flow monitoring (2nd line) also forms part of the role.

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate system related incidents into non-technical language explaining the issue and resolution steps clearly.
  • A confident approach building working relationships to support the business users with application support.
  • Problem solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Collaborative working with IT systems team and Business users based in London or other in locations
  • Collaborative working with external vendors
  • Ability to analyse in order to understand an issue and recommend the best and most appropriate solution
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, ensuring that the highest possible levels of service are provided to end users

Specific Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in a Business Application Support team within a Financial Organisation
  • Good knowledge of Back Office systems and processes within an Investment banking environment
  • Understanding of the financial markets and trade workflows/operations
  • Experience of managing system changes or upgrades
