This year, the Asia Recruitment Awards (ARA) will return for its fifth edition in Singapore to celebrate best practices and innovation in the recruitment industry. On this occasion, SThree Singapore is very happy to announce that the company is a finalist in five categories.
This is specifically:

Best Client Service – Huxley
We are truly humbled and delighted for having two of our brands shortlisted for the Best Client Service category. Huxley is part of the larger SThree Group and it operates across a global network of 40 offices including Singapore, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), London and New York. For over 20 years, we have covered different and complementary revenue streams of contract and permanent recruitment as well as placed interim and retained jobs across various industries and have established a scalable platform for future growth through our leading-edge systems and global infrastructure and our specialised and coordinated teams that are based locally.

We are very excited to be a finalist in the Recruitment Agency of the Year category. SThree’s multi-brand strategy has been very well-suited to the Singaporean markets with Huxley specialising in banking, finance and technology, Real Staffing specialising in life sciences and Progressive Recruitment specialising in oil and gas. Our three STEM brands benefit from separate specialist global databases of clients and candidates, resulting in significant success for our searches. Our focus on delivering a unique customer experience is our competitive advantage as we can access more than one million candidates on our global database in real time.
Over the past year we have established the following in-house programmes which have in turn assisted our consultants to reach their full potential and deliver staffing solutions to their clients and candidates through a consultative assessment of their needs:
• Contract Blueprint Programme – a comprehensive learning initiative that consists of nine different modules and designed to equip our consultants in providing an excellent service delivery to candidates in contract roles;
• Recruitment Campus – a training and development programme designed for our new starters in their first six months with the company;
• SThree Foundation – established to develop a diverse STEM talent pipeline and fund STEM projects;
• Partnership with African Science Academy (ASA) as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in support of young women pursuing university STEM studies;
• CliftonStrengths – A development programme to complement our sales-driven training and help our consultants discover and leverage their top five talents. This has enabled our consultants to be 6.2% more productive and 4 times more likely to be engaged at work;
• Certificate in Management Essentials (CMEP) programme – designed to develop first line management skills and behaviours to improve individual and team performance;
• IdentiFy programme – our global initiative to support and develop women in leadership roles; and
• An analysis of the customer experience programme through Net Promoter Score (NPS).
Best Specialist Recruitment Agency
At SThree, we work together as a team to ensure that we remain focused on being innovative while maximising our candidate engagement, commercial achievement and contribution to the success of the recruitment industry. This is why we are so thrilled to be nominated for the Best Specialist Recruitment Agency category.
As a STEM specialist recruitment agency, our ultimate objective is to make a significant contribution to the recruitment industry and enhance our relevance on the job market. We revised our employee development programs and opened our consultancy branch to help our clients solve complex staffing issues. Through our consultative service with our clients, we understand how our staffing solutions can best help them achieve their business goals. We also pioneered co-creative workshops together with our clients to help coach them on key interview techniques to identify quality candidates whilst building a better name for themselves.
Our aim is to value-add to our clients by sharing with them our recruitment expertise which they may lack whether as a start-up or an established company. We are also working towards changing the perception that STEM markets are male-dominated. Over the past year, we have led by example by promoting opportunities for gender diversity within the industry by organising diversity forums, panel discussions and roundtables. This has assisted in creating a pipeline for senior female talent within the STEM industry.
Best Candidate Experience
We are also proud to announce that we are a finalist in the Best Candidate Experience category. Our primary objective at SThree has always been to act in our customers’ best interests and implement a programme that will better equip our consultants in delivering a tailored service to candidates and advise them about the benefits of both contract and permanent jobs. In doing so, we will be able to encourage candidates to make a fully-informed decision about the type of role they ultimately want.
One of the key challenges that we have experienced at SThree Singapore is placing candidates in contract placements of a duration of less than one year. The issue was two-folds: not only is the job market skewed towards permanent jobs; but it was also challenging to find people with the right skills – especially local talent.
While we understand that the relatively lower interest in contract jobs is associated to the preconceived notion that a contract job is less advantageous than a permanent job, we also know that another contributing factor is candidates not knowing what a contract job fully entails. This is why it is essential for us as recruitment specialists, to accurately perform a needs assessment of each candidate and assess their suitability for either a contract or permanent role against their preferences and culture fit with the organisation.
Through our consultative service, we are able to meet by going the extra mile to truly understand their needs better.
