Huxley Shows Gratitude to Heroes From the Finance Industry

As the world confronts the health crisis of a generation in the form of a fast-spreading pandemic, companies across the finance, commercial, and IT space are stepping up and supporting people to get through this challenging time.

Huxley thanks you!

To our customers and partners around the world, we thank you for your hard work and commitment to fighting this cause. To keep everyone informed and to show our gratitude of the work that they have put in to tackle this global pandemic, here are the top 5 companies battling against the pandemic in their own way.

Alibaba Cloud launched a series of AI technologies and cloud-based solutions to support companies and organizations worldwide in the fight against COVID-19. Among the new solutions is the International Medical Expert Communication Platform, which allows medical professionals to exchange knowledge through online messaging, video conferencing and live-streaming. Other solutions include an epidemic-prediction tool and AI-enabled genome-sequencing technology that offers rapid, accurate and comprehensive analysis of subjects. Alibaba’s financial services arm, Ant Financial, is offering a blockchain platform to speed up claims processing, reducing the need for face-to-face contact amid the outbreak.

Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched the AWS Diagnostic Development Initiative—a global program to support customers who are working to bring better, more accurate, diagnostics solutions to market faster and promote better collaboration across organizations that are working on similar problems. With an investment of $20 million, they will be accelerating diagnostic research, innovation, and development to speed collective understanding and detection of COVID-19 and other innovate diagnostic solutions to mitigate future infectious disease outbreaks.

Facebook is expanding its program ‘Data For Good’ which grants researchers access to data about movement patterns in an effort to help improve our understanding of the spread of COVID-19 globally. Data for Good, which uses aggregated, anonymized data from Facebook’s applications to inform academic research, will now grant access to three new maps for forecasting the disease’s spread and revealing whether residents of a given region are staying at home. Facebook executives said that the company could aid in disease recovery efforts while still protecting the privacy of individual users.

Citibank will be providing ample support to its customers globally with assistance in light of this pandemic. From waivers on monthly service fees, for both regular and small business customers, to fee waivers on remote deposit capture for small business customers. The group also has in place existing assistance programs that are always available for eligible credit card customers, including credit line increases and collection forbearance programs.

In addition, The Citi Foundation announced that it will provide $15 million to support COVID-19 related relief activities globally. $5 million will be directed to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and will be used to provide critical protective equipment for frontline health workers and necessary infrastructure to help scale up the public health response to the pandemic. $5 million will also go to support organizations globally in the long haul.

Goldman Sachs

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. announced it will deliver $300 million across two separate initiatives to help small businesses and communities around the world navigate the current health and economic crisis. Goldman Sachs has committed:

·         $275 million to create a Small Business Stimulus Package, including:

·         $250 million to provide emergency loans to small businesses across the country

·         $25 million in grants to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and other mission-driven lenders to ensure they have the necessary capacity to underwrite and deliver loans to small businesses as soon as possible.
