Cell / Production Team Leader - Manufacturing Shop Floor
6-9 Mth Contract
My client is a world leader in design and manufacturing of innovative technology products. It has a purpose built manufacturing facility, which has a modern factory with flexible production lines, assembly feed cells, just in time manufacturing and a large R&D centre of engineering.
They are currently looking for temporary Team Leaders to work within a broader manufacturing cell and reporting to the Cell Leader.
The Team Leader will be responsible for leading a section of up to 20 people in an assembly cell of their equipment. The equipment is make to order and varies in type and standard.
The Team Leader is the first line of decision making, working within the framework established by the Cell Leader. It is the Team Leaders role to control day to day manufacturing activities at shop floor level and achieve product quality and delivery commitments in an effective manner.
Ensure that the team understands its responsibilities and achieves the customer committed schedule of output
Engage in daily team meetings to facilitate good communication and set clear and achievable targets
Motivating the team
Maintain a customer focused team culture, with emphasis on continuous improvement of all performance measures o Safety o Quality o Delivery o Cost
Identify production throughput problems and, where necessary, work with members of other departments to quickly resolve them
Utilise the company's materials systems to ensure that all material transactions are captured accurately.
Liaise with Purchasing Dept and internal suppliers to resolve shortages quickly
Assist the Cell Leader in administration of cell activities, team briefings and with the training of team members Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Company Health & Safety Policy and that any incidents are correctly investigated and immediate corrective actions taken
Experience of leading, motivating and developing teams is essential. Experience of working in a make to order manufacturing environment Experience/understanding of the following manufacturing elements:
Key Performance Metrics o Kaizen o Bills of Material o Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Kanban systems o 5S's/House Keeping o Lean Manufacturing
Preferably an HNC in electrical engineering followed by at least 2 years relevant manufacturing experience; OR Apprenticeship followed by at least 4 years relevant manufacturing experience.
