Application Support Analyst (Must have FX experience)

A global investment bank seeking an application support analyst to join its team in NYC. This is one of our key accounts and we have placed candidates there before.

Please note that we cannot consider C2C candidates for this position. This will be a 10 month contract opportunity that the manager may look to extend or convert to a direct hire. The right candidate should have at least 3 years of experience as an application support analyst supporting FX (foreign exchange) applications. The job description is below for your review.

Business Overview:
We are currently seeking a talented Front Office Applications Functional Support Analyst with a solid background in supporting FX applications. The individual will join the existing eCommerce AS US team in New York, which is part of the eSolutions Group. The team works closely with Sales, Structurers, External Clients and Middle Office personnel, alongside Development and Technical Support teams.

Responsibilities:
The role of a Functional Support Analyst for Front Office Applications in eCommerce AS Team is divided into two main components:

1 Providing a functional support to the users

* Replying to the users request, by email, phone or directly on the desk
* Solving Level 1 to 2 issues
* Responding to user's queries regarding the operation of the systems
* Detecting bugs and connectivity issues and describing them to the relevant Level 3 support team
* Investigating the applications' logs
* Researching and modifying data in the applications database
* Liaising with Development and Production Support teams for Level 3 issues
* Ensuring the handover with sister teams in Europe and Asia
* Testing the releases in coordination with the Production Support teams
* Following and understanding the ITSM ?IT Service Management? procedures and processes
* Performing Start/End of Day/Week checks
* Ensuring a high level of training and knowledge

1 Working on small to medium scale projects related to the supported applications and to the operation of the team

* Assisting the users by providing them functional and technical information when a new project is initiated and during the project lifecycle
* Initiating and contributing to projects related to the increase of the performance and the reduction of the risk associated to the Support tasks mentioned in the section above
* Using the JIRA system to track the progress done on the assigned projects
* Developing innovation within the team and within APS eSolutions group by proposing and implementing new ideas and new processes


Minimum required qualifications

* Experience: minimum 5 years' experience in a front-office support or development team, and 3 years on FX systems

Technical Knowledge:

* Strong SQL knowledge
* Strong ability to understand and interpret a stack trace
* Strong ability to analyze applications logs and extract data
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
* Strong knowledge of Excel/VBA
* Intermediary knowledge in Unix/Linux shell scripting
* Intermediary knowledge of IT networks



* Basic knowledge of a programming language (Python, JAVA or C#)

Functional Knowledge:

* Thorough knowledge of functions, products and workings of the FX market

* Spot, Forward, Swap and FX Options
* Understanding of the flow of an FX order
* Understanding of the principles of the FX markets
* Understanding of the operation of an FX Sales and FX Trading desk
* Good understanding of the mechanisms (pricing, trading, settlement) of a wide range of assets families (Credit, Rates, Equities, Commodities)
* Basic knowledge on derivative products (understanding the pricing of an option, the concept of volatility, the delta hedging)
