AWS Devops Engineer - Permanent role - Zaventem

One of our clients based in Zaventem is looking for an AWS cloud/on-premises devops with a strong experience in the following areas:

Decent AWS cloud (hands-on/practical) experience with AWS' core services like:

- EC2 and related concepts as security groups, auto scaling groups, launch configurations

- System manager services (for one shot configurations, patch management, cloud watch setups, …)

- Cloudwatch: logging, events

- S3

- Cloudformation (very important)

- Elastic Beanstalk (including Load balancing, monitoring, health checks, …)

- Managed directory service (AWS Active Directory)

- Elastic search AWS service (and more in general configuration of the Elastic search stack (formerly known as ELK, but now also including beats, log stash, …) would be an asset !)

- Maintaining and setting up remote desktop gateway servers in a windows domain in an AWS VPC to enable RDP over HTTPS

- Strong understanding and be able to troubleshoot VPC's (the internal networking details like routing, public private subnets in multiple Availability zones, NAT gateways) - this requires a very thorough knowledge of IP networking)

- External DNS : Route 53

- Internal DNS (Microsoft Active Directory as a service)

- Troubleshooting connectivity issues with load balancers, NGINX reverse proxies

- AWS certificate manager

- AWS Lambda

- AWS SDK usage through the command line AWS CLI or using different scripting language (best tools for the job) including Python, PowerShell.

As fluent in a Linux terminal as on a Windows Server

Decent knowledge of PKI, especially server certificate handling, concepts like wildcard certificates, trust chains, subject alternate names and SNI should be a no-brainer for you, using OpenSSL for certificate creation, TLS/SSL debugging, …

Knowledge of Puppet/Chef/… and related tools are not strictly necessary but someone who can bring in some experience on these technologies would be welcome

Necessary Linux technologies:

- A minimum amount of bash scripting knowledge and common used command line tools

- Command line tools to troubleshoot network communication with tools like ifconfig, curl, dig, netstat, nslookup, openssl, nc (netcat), …

- Docker containers knowledge is a MUST (including docker-compose files, dockerfile creation and maintenance, debugging a running container, … )

- Intermediate knowledge of Linux administration (user and group creation, basic security, environment setup, package installation (mainly Ubuntu/Debian based but also redhat based), DNS troubleshooting)

- NGINX webserver knowledge - especially acting as reverse proxy, throttling (rate limiting), virtual hosts, TLS (HTTPS) offloading, … and troubleshooting

- IIS configuration and deployment on Windows 2008->2016

Build and deployment pipelines:

- As TeamCity is the tool of choice you should ideally have some knowledge of TeamCity or get quickly up to speed with it

- Setting up deployments based on immutable builds (according to the 12 factor app principle): build once - run everywhere !

- Knowledge of MSBUILD is highly recommended as a lot of legacy software is still written in .NET

- .NET Core 2 knowledge (how it is integrated with docker and the build / staging steps are used)

If you are interested, please do not hesitate to forward to me your updated CV in English and your availability for an appointment.
