A very well-established family business specialising in the design and manufacture of automated machinery for highly-regulated industry is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their growing team in North London, due to increased customer demand and investment in R&D.

As a key member of the of the Controls Team, the successful Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and testing control systems for the company's equipment, including PLC and HMI programming.

You would be involved in projects right from defining the customer's requirements, through producing control system specifications, programming the PLC and HMI and conducting in-house testing. Travel in the role will be relatively minimal as the company has dedicated commissioning and service engineers.

The role would also entail creating electrical schematics using CAD and producing I/O lists, bills of materials, cable schedules and panel layouts. The Controls Engineer will also have the opportunity to be involved in R&D, with the chance to investigate new technologies and develop the company systems to remain at the cutting-edge of industry technology.

To be successful in applying for this position your experience must include:

- PLC programming from scratch

- Ideally HMI development experience would be beneficial

Any experience with Siemens PLC, EPLAN, high-level programming languages, automated machinery, vision systems, motion control or Object Oriented Programming would be desirable, but not essential.

This position would provide a salary of £45,000 - £50,000 plus benefits including company pension at 4.3%, BUPA healthcare, Life assurance and 24 days holiday.
