PL/SQL Developer

Location: Baltimore, Maryland Salary: competitive

An asset management firm is seeking a PL/SQL developer join its team in Maryland. This is one of our key accounts and we have placed candidates there before.

This will be a 6 month contract opportunity that the manager may look to extend or convert to a direct hire. Please note that we cannot consider C2C candidates for this position. The rate will be based on experience, market rate, and the budget of the group.

Responsibilities:

  • Significant experience & demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of database programming on Oracle SQL / PL/SQL and/or related technologies that encapsulate SQL, including Cursors, Ref-cursors, Procedures, Functions and Packages, Oracle Supplied Packages, Collections, Partitioned Tables, Triggers, Table Indexing
  • Participate in meetings and discussions with Functional/Technical Leads to understand the requirements and work out a design.
  • Ability to interpret the requirements and build Logical and Physical Relational Data Models
  • Prepare the PL/SQL Requirements and Design documents
  • Write and maintain SQL and PL/SQL stored program units/packages and maintain coding standards.
  • Experience in Query optimization, debugging, and performance tuning for improving performance.
  • Write unit tests (document and code) for the PL/SQL stored program units/packages
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure the code written complies with the company standards and policies
  • Interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner.

Skills:

  • Scripting - Perl, Shell scripting, etc.: strong
  • Scheduling - Autosys preferably: medium to strong
  • IFM ETL: low to medium Investment Operations (more precisely Performance Measurement and Stats) - helpful but not mandatory.
  • At least 8+ years' experience, solid communication skills (oral / written), hands-on experience in SQL, PL/SQL, moderate-to-advanced performance tuning skills, data modeling, experience working in a high data volume / Operations setting in all phases of SDLC with minimal supervision.
  • Write unit tests (document and code) for the PL/SQL stored program units/packages
  • Oracle 11g experience is a must
  • Strong PL/SQL programming skills
  • Excellent SQL tuning experience
  • Proven record of accomplishment working in all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Experience with UNIX and shell scripting
  • Understanding of Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes to support Data Conversion / Migration / Consolidation
  • Should have good communication and writing skills
  • Candidates must be willing to work independently and/or as part of a team in an energetic, team-oriented environment managing systems of varying size/complexity with a fast turn-around time.
  • Apply innovation, creativity, and improvement to the development/support processes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively is a necessity
  • BS in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Financial Services/Investments industry experience preferred (not required)
