A new permanent position has become available as a Systems Engineer within a leading electronic trading firm based in central London.
With proven experience of infrastructure within medium sized enterprises, you the Systems Engineer will be responsible for the systems administration within the firms systems. Day to day responsibilities will include configuration, implementation, troubleshooting and development of specialised system procedures, therefore requiring you to have experience working within Linux and VMWare environments. As Systems engineer it will be necessary to work well under pressure to diagnosing and resolve issues whilst prioritising and managing projects.
The financial sector is a highly dynamic environment with changing necessities requiring you to have a self-motivated, 'can do' attitude to working, while taking responsibility and ownership of your projects. Having previous experience within the financial sector is necessary as you will be required to modify scripts to solve performance issues while implementing procedures to avoid problems prior to their occurrence. Having excellent communication skills is a must as you will be leading projects on the IT systems from end-to-end, troubleshooting and implementing practices and procedures.
- Expert VMware Knowledge
- Experience using Unix/Linux platforms is essential
- Working experience of scripting (Bash, Python)
- Excellent knowledge of storage systems (Pure SAN)
- Knowledge in Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Operating Systems.
- Working understanding of OS networking - firewalling, Routing tables, gateways, tcp/udp,
- Experience in a multi-site environment with a user base of 300+
